4 Can't-Miss Sessions at the 2017 NCPA Annual Convention

The National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) Annual Convention, scheduled October 14-18 in Orlando, Florida, will provide plenty of opportunities for community pharmacists to delve into a number of informative and educational sessions.

The National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) Annual Convention, scheduled October 14-18 in Orlando, Florida, will provide plenty of opportunities for community pharmacists to delve into a number of informative and educational sessions. According to the association, the NCPA Annual Convention is “your business getaway where the sun always shines on profitable ideas for your pharmacy.”

Pharmacy Times will be on site and bringing you coverage all week. Here are some of the sessions to watch for this week.

  • Moving the Needle. This discussion will focus on the importance of the community pharmacists’ role in vaccination coverage, while addressing the burden of infectious diseases in adults. The session will provide pharmacy-based strategies to help protect adults against vaccine-preventable diseases and how to turn immunizations into profits.
  • Obesity the Symptom: How Community Pharmacists Can Stop the Biochemical Chaos How can pharmacists assist their obese patients? This session will provide insight into the foundation to a successful, pharmacy-based weight loss/lifestyle program and its impact to patient health and pharmacy profits.
  • Taking Care of Man’s Best Friend — Branching Out in Companion Animal Care In this session, pharmacists will discuss the profit potential for a niche in pet prescriptions and OTC products, and take away inside secrets for developing partnerships with local veterinarians and techniques for pharmacist/veterinarian relationships.
  • Pharmacists Advancing Vaccination Efforts (PhAVE) Talk Series Pharmacists have evolved into active, trusted members of the adult clinical care team. This discussion, scheduled for Oct. 16 at 6 p.m., will focus on the patient’s perspective on the role of the pharmacist in the community of vaccinators and how pharmacies can further develop strategies to improve vaccination coverage.
