2016 Technician of the Year Finalists
Janet Mendez believes that little is more essential to her profession than making personal connections with each patient. In addition to her work as a senior certified traveling pharmacy technician, she has taught a course to help aspiring technicians prepare for certification.
GREATEST ACHIEVEMENTS
I helped to create and implement the “Smile Program,” a 5-step approach to improve the patient-service process, with an emphasis on recognizing and meeting patient needs. This program was utilized in my district and had positive results in the workplace.
SOURCE OF INSPIRATION
My biggest source of inspiration is my grandmother, who raised me from a child on her own and showed me that you could accomplish anything with hard work, strong will, and determination.
PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY
My philosophy is pretty straightforward: treat others the same way I wish to be treated, with kindness, dignity, and respect.
VISION FOR PHARMACY
I feel that providing the best patient service possible is what the profession needs to strive for. By the end of their visit, patients should be pleased with our service and have no qualms about coming back again.
Zipporah-Darvi Redding has dedicated herself to supporting those in her community who are in need of assistance. An advocate for the technician profession, she frequently teaches pharmacy technician students about the importance of their expanding role.
GREATEST ACHIEVEMENTS
My greatest achievements in pharmacy would include winning the Technician of the Year award from the Florida Pharmacy Association in 2012 and winning Pharmacy Technician of the Year from the Florida Society of Health- System Pharmacists in 2015 for my dedication to both organizations.
SOURCE OF INSPIRATION
My older and only sister, Yahsheba, is my biggest source of inspiration. She has been there cheering me on, supporting me, and helping me get through the best and the challenging moments of my life.
PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY
No time is ever wasted when improvement is involved. Various aspects in life require improvement, including the way we serve, talk, listen, respond, interact, build, mentor, and conduct our behavior.
VISION FOR PHARMACY
My vision is for pharmacy technicians to have more expanded roles to assist pharmacists and patients, as well as to see their value and increase their knowledge by obtaining more credentials.
Cynthia Andujar worked as a pharmacy technician at a community Walgreens before joining the Walgreens Pharmacy Bedside Team at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. In this capacity, she works side-by-side with doctors, nurses, and other hospital staff to help patients with their discharge medications.
GREATEST ACHIEVEMENTS
I am proud to have been named the winner of Walgreens’ Champion of Champions Award, a recognition that demonstrates my commitment to my patients and fellow team members, as well as my willingness to go above and beyond.

My biggest source of inspiration is my faith and the appreciation of the customer and patients I serve.
PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY
I strive to treat all people with respect and provide patients with the most effective and efficient service possible.
VISION FOR PHARMACY
My vision for the pharmacy profession is to see it grow and extend to meet the needs of all generations for years to come.
