A patient complained of redness at the site of application of a topical, transdermal (poloxamer-lecithin organogel?based) preparation. The patient applied the same material at the same site over the past 6 months. Suggestions?

Generally, patients should be encouraged to rotate sites of application of extemporaneously prepared formulations intended for transdermal administration of active ingredients, particularly when occlusive dressing technique is employed. Consult with the patient about areas where the epidermis is thin and where hair growth is thinnest.
