The Kentucky Cabinet for Health andFamily Services (CHFS) plans to solicitgrant applications this summer for a newelectronic prescribing (e-prescribing) programfor pharmacists, physicians, andother health care providers. The monieswill help fund the purchase of technologyor services necessary to initiate e-prescribing.Health care providers will thusbe able to securely submit prescriptions,refill authorizations, and other pharmaceuticalinformation to pharmacies.
Physicians are encouraged to partnerwith members of other practice groupsand with clinics, hospitals, health plans,or other organizations in their communities.The grants will be given to physicianpartnerships that collectively invest ine-prescribing technology in up to 4 Kentuckycommunities. The grants willmatch up to $90,000 of those investments,according to the CHFS.
