ViaNase ID

Kurve Technology Inc (Bothell,Wash)recently introduced its first nasal drugdelivery device—ViaNase ID. The productincorporates drug identification and lockouttechnologies, data transfer, and anelectronic display. The features not onlyimprove patient compliance but mayprove vital in curbing the counterfeit drugmarket. ViaNase ID uses the company'sControlled Participle Dispersion technologyto control which drugs are used inthe device. The attempted use of anunapproved drug renders the deviceinoperable. The product records the drugname, product code, and expiration date.ViaNase ID also simplifies the administrationof drugs delivered nasally. On theelectronic display, patients can see thenumber of doses delivered, number ofdoses left in the prescription, as well asreceive alarm reminders when it is timeto administer the drug.
