Rx 1:Registered Pharmacist Kim Ficker and her staff, of Naples Professional Pharmacy in Naples, Me, received this prescription during the 5 o'clock rush hour after the physician's office closed. The staff held the prescription upside down, up to a mirror, and tried to read it from the back to no avail. While waiting for the on-call physician to return their phone message, the pharmacist and her staff continued to speak with the patient regarding the nature of this prescription. Finally, the patient shared that it was for "nerves."Ficker and her staff's suspicions were confirmed when the office called back to corroborate the order. What strategies will you use to figure out this prescription?
Rx 2:Registered Pharmacists Joanna Weitzel and Susan Seely and Stephen Seely, CPhT, of Osco Pharmacy #5160 in Springfield, Mo, were unable to decipher this prescription. Originally they thought it might be a prescription for Lamictal, but no strength was given and the directions did not make sense. The man who dropped off this prescription had his arm bandaged, leading the staff to believe the script might be for pain. Weitzel called the prescribing physician's office and left a message for the nurse. The call was never returned, prompting Weitzel to page the physician after hours. She was told the physician does not accept any pharmacy calls after hours. The patient had the physician paged so that Weitzel and her staff could figure out this prescription. Can you solve this mystery?
