Drugs@FDA, a new on-line information source offering pharmacists instant access to the latest government data about all federally approved pharmaceutical products, was launched earlier this year by the FDA. The resource, available at the Web site of the FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (www.fda.gov/cder), includes a searchable database that provides information on discontinued drugs and some OTC products, as well as approved prescription drugs.
In addition to a comprehensive overview of each drug's approval history, the new Internet tool allows pharmacists to quickly access labeling, medication guides, and consumer information sheets for these products. "Eventually, information on recalls, warnings, and drug shortages will also be included," agency officials said.
