Compounding a hydroxyurea liquid

Do you have any suggestions for compounding a hydroxyurea liquid? The problem is that a child with sickle cell anemia needs a 600-mg dose, and only a 500-mg dose is available. With this patient, 500 mg is ineffective, and 1000 mg makes her sick.

Hydroxyurea is hygroscopic and decomposes in the presence of moisture. Although it is freely soluble in water,it does not lend itself to the preparation of an oral solution for a pediatric patient. You might want to make powder papers or capsules, to be opened and mixed with liquid immediately before administration.
