Pharmacy Times Continuing Educational Activity: Demystifying Medical Cannabis

Pharmacy Times Continuing Education™ (PTCE), a leader in continuing education for retail, health-system, managed care and specialty pharmacists, next month will present an interdisciplinary educational video activity titled “Demystifying Medical Cannabis in Disease State Management: What Clinicians Need to Know.”

“This program is designed to educate clinicians on all aspects of medical cannabis,” said Jim Palatine, RPh, MBA, president of PTCE. “Our expert panelists will address a collaborative approach and highlight pharmacists’ and physicians’ roles in using medical cannabis to treat patients. This activity will cover relevant topics, from the impact medical cannabis has on the body to its legal regulations.”

This interdisciplinary educational video activity will be presented in 4 segments and will feature Paul Doghramji, M.D., FAAFP, senior family physician, Collegeville Family Practice, medical director, Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, as the moderator; and Mary M. Bridgeman, Pharm.D., BCPS, CGP, FASCP, clinical associate professor, department of pharmacy practice, Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers University, internal medicine clinical pharmacist, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ; and Alex Y. Bekker, M.D., Ph.D., M.S., professor and chair, department of anesthesiology, professor, department of physiology and pharmacology, Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark, NJ, are the 2 panelists who will discuss and collaboratively provide an overview of medical cannabis, identify the therapeutic role of cannabis, examine the regulation of medical cannabis and establish the role of health care providers in prescribing medical cannabis.

The activity is accredited by the ACPE for 1.0 contact hours (0.10 CEUs) for pharmacists and by the ACCME for 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ for physicians. It will be available on http://www.PharmacyTimes.org in November.
