The Origins of the Pharmacist Moms Group

Suzy Soliman, PharmD, founder of the Pharmacist Moms Group, discusses how the group originated and why it's needed.

Suzanne Soliman, PharmD, founder of the Pharmacist Mom's Group, speaks to Pharmacy Times about the origins of the facebook group, started in 2017, during the Cardinal Health Retail Business Conference on July 19th, 2019.

Suzy Soliman, PharmD: The Pharmacist Moms Group started back in 2017. I was feeling pretty guilty one night when I missed my son's baseball game and it wasn't the first game I'd missed, and I just felt really guilty that night after I'd put my kids to bed. I couldn't sleep so I went on the internet, I went to Facebook and I started scrolling through. And I said, you know what? I must not be the only woman out there thinking about how many games I've missed and things I haven't done because of work. So I looked around and I wanted to really form a group where I could talk to other pharmacists who maybe had a similar educational background to me or someone who could really relate to me and what I went through with work and working weekends and working at night and things like that. And I couldn't find a group. I found a bunch of mom groups, but I couldn't find a group for pharmacists who were moms. So that night I started it. I invited a lot of my former classmates, some of my former co-residents, and there were about 50 people in it. Within a month it was a thousand. And now in the past two years we're at 300,000 plus, and it's been really organically that it's grown, which has been really great.
