With the arrival of flu and cold season, note the differences between symptoms for both illnesses.

Clinical Pearl of the Day: Cold vs Flu

Insight:

Cold symptoms

  • Fever is rare
  • Aches and pain are slight
  • Symptoms are gradual
  • Sneezing is common
  • Stuffy nose is common
  • Headaches are rare
  • Fatigue and weakness sometimes
  • Sore throat common

Flu symptoms

  • Fever and chills are common
  • Aches and pains are usual
  • Symptoms are abrupt
  • Sneezing occurs sometimes
  • Stuffy nose occurs sometimes
  • Headaches are common
  • Fatigue and weakness are typical
  • Sore throat occurs sometimes
