TMZ’s sources said Prince was a Walgreens customer for years. However, individuals from the store told the entertainment news outlet that he looked “more frail and nervous than usual” the day before his death.

TMZ also reported that multiple sources said the “Raspberry Beret” singer had been treated for a drug overdose less than a week before he died. Prince’s private jet made an emergency landing in Illinois on April 15, 2016, even though the plane was scheduled to touch down 48 minutes later.

Prince’s reps said he had the flu, but TMZ’s sources suggested that he was taken to the hospital and given what sounds like a shot of naloxone. Despite physician recommendations to stay in the hospital for 24 hours, the singer left after 3 hours and flew home, TMZ reported.

The singer had also canceled a show in Atlanta, Georgia, earlier this month because he wasn’t feeling well.

Prince was 57 when he died. His publicist confirmed in a statement that he passed away at his Paisley Park home on the morning of April 21, 2016.

Carver County Sheriff Jim Olsen told The Associated Press that Prince was found unresponsive in an elevator and police are still investigating his death.

After the news of Prince’s death broke, tributes from other celebrities poured in.

“There truly was only one Prince,” Aretha Franklin told MSNBC. Justin Timberlake and Lionel Richie tweeted about their state of shock. Questlove, Lupe Fiasco, Boy George, and Oprah Winfrey tweeted about their love for Prince. Will Smith posted a message on Facebook saying his family was mourning the loss of “a beautiful poet.”

The President of the United States also released the following statement about the renowned singer:

“Today, the world lost a creative icon. Michelle and I join millions of fans from around the world in mourning the sudden death of Prince. Few artists have influenced the sound and trajectory of popular music more distinctly, or touched quite so many people with their talent. As one of the most gifted and prolific musicians of our time, Prince did it all. Funk. R&B. Rock and roll. He was a virtuoso instrumentalist, a brilliant bandleader, and an electrifying performer. ‘A strong spirit transcends rules,’ Prince once said—and nobody's spirit was stronger, bolder, or more creative. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, his band, and all who loved him.”

During his lifetime, Prince won 7 Grammy Awards and earned 30 nominations. He also starred in several movies and won an Oscar for best original score song for his movie Purple Rain.
