Police Catch Pharmacy Robber in Less Than 5 Minutes

Using a tube of sealant as a fake gun, a man robbed a pharmacy in Piedmont, Oklahoma, but was caught by police in less than 5 minutes, according to Piedmont News.

Alleged thief Sean Masters, 37, robbed Piedmont Pharmacy of 2 bottles of hydrocodone around noon on January 17, 2015. Masters allegedly walked into the pharmacy wearing a red hoodie and a plastic bag over his head. He passed the pharmacy staff a note saying he wanted hydrocodone and indicated that he had a gun and would shoot, Piedmont News reported.

After receiving 2 bottles of hydrocodone, Masters allegedly fled on foot toward his car.

When he left, a pharmacist called the police and described what the robber looked like. Meanwhile, Piedmont officers just happened to be across the street from the pharmacy and saw a man running “almost directly toward the officers,” Piedmont News reported.

The officers caught Masters after a brief foot chase, and the hydrocodone was recovered.

“Little did Masters know as he walked into the Piedmont Pharmacy with the intent to rob the store of narcotics that in less than 5 minutes he would be handcuffed and headed to jail,” Piedmont Police Chief Scott Singer said in a press release.

Masters, who had been arrested for a 2010 pharmacy burglary, will be charged with first-degree robbery.
