The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has served search warrants to several pharmacies in Mississippi.

Supervisory Special Agent Jason Pack told Pharmacy Times that the FBI and “multiple federal and state partners” conducted “court-authorized activity” at 9 Mississippi locations—not all of which were pharmacies—in “furtherance of an ongoing criminal investigation.”

Pack said he could not comment further on the ongoing case, and the affidavits supporting the January 21, 2016, activity were under a court-ordered seal.

The investigation was initially conducted by the Mississippi Department of Public Safety’s Bureau of Narcotics, but a public information officer for the bureau said she could not comment further, as the case had been turned over to the feds.

At an earlier time, however, she told The Clarion-Ledger that in addition to the 9 warrants in Mississippi, there were warrants issued in Alabama, Florida, and Utah. Some of the items seized were vehicles, planes, boats, and money from 80 bank accounts, the paper reported.

The public information officer also told the paper that the issue was a health care fraud investigation and that no one had been arrested as of January 21, 2016.

Several media outlets reported that FBI agents were seen at the Opus RX pharmacy in Jackson, Mississippi.

On the OPUS Management Group’s Facebook page, the company posted a picture on January 21, 2016, that said, “With integrity you will do the right thing, so you will have no guilt.”
