San Francisco police have arrested a 35-year-old man who allegedly dressed up as a clown and robbed several pharmacies and banks in the Bay Area, according to SF Weekly.

Sean Yakota has been taken into custody after a month-long investigation, in which an Asian male aged 25 to 35 years old who was 5 feet and 5 inches tall was observed robbing 15 banks and pharmacies, according to a police report.

According to a December 19, 2014, police report, officers saw Yakota, who matched the description of the armed robber, loitering outside a pharmacy. Yakota fled when he was confronted, but officers caught him on foot and arrested him. He was taken to county jail on robbery and firearm charges, according to San Francisco police.

A police spokesperson told SF Weekly that Yakota would “dress up in quasi-clown outfits like wigs and glasses” during robberies.

The alleged robber would wear a costume each time he entered a pharmacy, reveal his pistol, and demand prescription pills. At banks, police believe Yakota would walk in and give the teller a note with his demands. Bank surveillance helped officers obtain photos of the suspect, police said.

San Francisco police did not release photos of Yakoto, due to pending identification matters.
