Thief Makes Bomb Threat at Hawaii Pharmacy

Police in Hawaii have arrested and charged a man with second-degree robbery after he allegedly threatened to blow up a pharmacy if the staff did not give him drugs.

Police in Hawaii have arrested and charged a man with second-degree robbery after he allegedly threatened to blow up a pharmacy if the staff did not give him drugs.

Phillip W. Hart, 55, of Kailua-Kona allegedly entered Mina Pharmacy on the morning of October 25, 2014, and demanded drugs, West Hawaii Today reports. He was given an undisclosed medication and then allegedly fled on foot.

Police located Hart at a nearby condominium and took him into custody. He remains in jail on $5,000 bail.

On the East Coast, 3 men were charged with a series of robberies in Florida, minutes after 2 of them allegedly attempted to rob a CVS at gunpoint on October 27, 2014.

Stanley Valentin, 19, and Malcolm Ward, 22, were charged after allegedly entering the CVS shortly before 3 a.m., The Orlando Sentinel Reports. The alleged getaway driver, Javier Tyson Farrar II, 20, was taken into custody at his home in Orlando after Valentin and Ward allegedly confessed to the CVS robbery, as well as 6 others.

Police spotted 2 masked suspects running through the shopping center and pursued them on foot. They recovered a 9 mm handgun and a pair of gloves, and found a white CVS moneybag on the ground in the pharmacy’s drive-through lanes.

The robberies were committed at 4 additional CVS pharmacies and a Walgreens pharmacy, as well as a Red Lobster. They occurred within a 2-week period across Orange, Osceola, and Polk Counties.

Up north, a Gardiner, Maine, man pleaded guilty to a single count of interference with commerce by robbery on October 28, 2014, after demanding drugs from a Rite Aid in his hometown in August.

Jesse N. Mansir, 31, allegedly handed a threatening note to a pharmacy technician, after which he received 2 bottles of oxycodone. Police, aided by a canine officer, located Mansir that evening, and he allegedly admitted to committing the robbery to feed an opiate addiction.

He allegedly told officers he spent the time after the theft getting high. Police recovered 1 of the stolen pill bottles when they took Mansir into custody.

Mansir faces up to 20 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and could be ordered to pay restitution, the Bangor Daily News reports. His sentencing date is pending.

Out west, a Twin Falls, Idaho, man faces robbery, aggravated assault, kidnapping, burglary, and possession of controlled substances charges following an October 25, 2014, robbery at a Sav-Mor Drug Store.

Billy Joe Bodenhofer, 34, allegedly showed Sav-Mor employees a handgun and demanded specific prescription drugs, magicvalley.com reports. Police and a SWAT team took him into custody without incident on October 28, 2014. He is being held in the Twin Falls County Jail as the investigation continues.

It is the sixth pharmacy robbery reported in the Twin Falls area since March 10, 2014, according to magicvalley.com.
