The "Next-Generation Pharmacist" Award, the program's highest honor, will be selected from the category winners. This best-in-class award will recognize a pharmacist who demonstrates an uncompromising focus on advancing patient care, dedication to the pharmacy in which he or she works and the strongest commitment to advancing the pharmacy industry overall.

Program Overview

Parata Systems and Pharmacy Times have joined forces to salute pharmacy professionals who are defining the future of pharmacy by launching The Next-Generation Pharmacist™ Program.

The program has two components: The Next-Generation Pharmacist Profile will provide an intimate snapshot of the current state and future vision of the practice of pharmacy. This research program will explore where pharmacists believe the profession is headed, and identify the qualities and values of those who are leading the way. The findings will be the focus of a special feature in the July issue of Pharmacy Times. The second component is a national award program that will recognize and honor those pharmacists, technicians and student pharmacists who embrace and embody the future vision of the industry.

Entries will be evaluated by an independent panel of judges, chaired by Pharmacy Times Editor-in-Chief Fred Eckel, and comprised of national thought leaders in pharmacy. The panel will use a point-value system to rank candidates' qualifications against the award category criteria. Up to three finalists may be named in each award category.

During the awards ceremony, a winner will be announced in each category. As a special feature, the ceremony will conclude with the naming of the "2010 Next-Generation Pharmacist" Award - the evening's top honor.

Finalists and their nominators will be notified by July 15, and invited to the inaugural Next-Generation Pharmacist Awards ceremony on October 25 in Philadelphia (during NCPA’s annual conference).

Information and online nominations can be found at www.nextgenerationpharmacist.org. Register to receive e-mail updates on the program, deadlines and other important information.
