US COURTS HALT Rx IMPORTS BY CANADIAN PHARMACY

The federal courts have pulled the plug on anotherprominent importer of Canadian prescriptiondrugs, ruling that Canada Care Drugs Inc should bepermanently enjoined from shipping pharmaceuticalsto patients in the United States. The court'saction was taken in the wake of an undercoverinvestigation by FDA officials seeking to preventcross-border sales of prescription medicines.

The kinds of products purchased undercover by theFDA from Canada Care "are often shipped with inadequateinstructions for use or in inappropriate quantitiesthat facilitate use of the product without the inputof a physician that is needed to assure that the productis used in a manner to prevent serious, and evenfatal, consequences," the agency official said.
