Compounding Accreditation Board Gets Support
The United States Pharmacopeia (USP) has announced its support for collaborationamong pharmacist organizations in creating a voluntary pharmacyaccreditation program for compounding. The Pharmacy CompoundingAccreditation Board was established to help enhance the quality and raiseawareness about compounding.
A coalition of pharmacy-related professional, regulatory, and standards-setting organizations initiatedthe program. "We are excited about being a member of this new board,"said Roger L. Williams, MD, executive vice president and chief executive officerat USP. "By working together, we will improve the quality of pharmacycompounding in the United States, which ultimately improves patientcare throughout the nation."
